Sokka and Katara

A co-worker asked me last May to do a painting of her kids. 5 months later, I finally got around to it. Her kids like Avatar so I decided to make them Sokka and Katara of the Water Tribe.

I figured I should put them in an iconic scene, and nothing is more iconic then the scene of them finding the avatar in the ice. (heck its in the shows opening)

My co-worker loved it, but her kids...they didn't like how they came out. Thats the drawback of painting real people into art...you kind of have to make them look like real people. And it was very hard making them look like her kids while maintaining the facial expressions the characters initially had. I think it came out ok.

20 hours total (including failed non-avatar concepts I did for her kids) - all done in Photoshop CS4 on my Lenovo X-61 tablet PC.
